Podophyllin and birth defects

Recently my sister who is 5 months pregnant was told by her new doctor that the podophyllin she had been treated with by her previous doctor for genital warts could cause birth defects. She was treated treated twice by her previous doctor at about one and three months along. Is there any information on how likely birth defects are after exposure to podophyllin at this level? Any information would be helpful.
