hepatic hemangiomas and pregnancyFrom: Sophia (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 02 Jun 2001 11:33:31 -0400
--Boundary_(ID_NW0aWh43OrnPz1MnbjwJ0A) Content-type: text/plain; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: quoted-printable I have recently been diagnosed with four hepatic hemangiomas. They were initially diagnosed during an ultrasound ordered by my general physician after my complaint of pain in my right upper abdomen. The hemangiomas were confirmed by a CT scan with contrast and I was informed that the largest was 1cm. The doctor present during the original sonogram as well as my general physician seemed unalarmed at my inquiry regarding growth of said hemangiomas if and when I conceive a second child. Upon informing my OB/Gyn, she seemed to feel that there is some cause for concern: that perhaps the hemangiomas will increase in size and/or burst due to pregnancy hormones and suggested that I seek a liver specialist. Is there any available documentation which supports my OB/Gyn's fears? Other than a six month ultrasound check up, is there any other profilactic measure that I may take in order to ensure my good health throughout my next pregnancy? Does the fact that I gained over sixty pounds(my weight went up to 193 lbs.) in my first pregnancy have any bearing on my condition? Would I seek a GI specialist? --Boundary_(ID_NW0aWh43OrnPz1MnbjwJ0A) Content-type: text/html; charset=iso-8859-1 Content-transfer-encoding: 7BIT <!DOCTYPE HTML PUBLIC "-//W3C//DTD HTML 4.0 Transitional//EN"> I have recently been diagnosed with four hepatic
