Post Cone Bleeding - Long

On May 7th I had a cone biopsy, D&C and tubal ligation. Approximately 8 days post op I started bleeding. I went to the dr. the following week for my post-op checkup. I had been bleeding for 8 days now. After examination, he said I was having a weird menstural cycle (my period was due at this time). He told me if I was still bleeding in a couple of days to start 200 mg. of Prometrium. I started the prometrium and still continued to bleed, it did not slow it down at all. After 14 days of bleeding, I called to make another appt w/ doc. This time he cauterized my cervix with some yellow pasty stuff. He said the bleeding was coming from the cone bed now. He told me the cervix has to heal from the inside to the outside and I'm taking longer to heal. This did stop my bleeding from being red to brown, for a day, but now my bright red bleeding has started again.

The doctor told me to continue taking the prometrium and I do NOT need to call him if I started bleeding again. My question...is this something I need to be concerned about? Is this common after cones? Is my doctor correct with his advice? I feel like 16 days of bleeding is enough and now it has started up again. When can I expect it to stop? Sometimes it gets pretty heavy (enough to run down my legs), but most of the time it is a light to moderate flow.

Just in case you need to know....the cone came back high grade dysplasia and i have not had sex or used tampons since the operation.
