Bleeding from uterusFrom: Susan (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 30 May 2001 19:35:50 -0500 (CDT)
My mother is currently having radiation for a metastisis around her sacrum. She started having slight spotting a couple of weeks ago, and is now bleeding as though she is on her period. Her radiologist examined her today to verify that the blood is indeed coming from her uterus, and said that she should be checked by her gyn after her radiation treatment is complete. My mom is 62, has breast to bone cancer, and as I said, is having radiation on her sacrum to alleviate a mass surrounding her nerves, causing her to lose feeling in her extremities. She has a pap every 6 months, and her most recent was about 4 months ago. Can this be the radiation affecting her female parts? If this is something to worry about, I would like to get her into her gyn earlier than 4 weeks. So far, her cancer has not spread into any soft tissue, however, I realize that this could be the case here, just wanted to know how fast I should proceed here. Thank you.
