a few ?'s about chronic PID

After an exhaustive search of the archives, I couldn’t find this question covered. I hope it’s OK if I address it here.

Could someone please explain what chronic PID subsequent to acute PID is? Does it mean the bacteria that caused the PID are still hanging? Or is the infection gone, but the pain continues because of adhesions/scarring?

I know the symptoms for PID are tender uterus and ovaries combined with cervical motion tenderness. Are these also the symptoms for chronic PID?

Thank you to the doctors and other wise people who participate in this board. Your time and efforts are a blessing to many.
