I had the same reaction to metrogel, and I've seen several other women post here... I truly believe at this point that it WAS the metrogel, not the applicator, not the infection, causing this spotting. It's happened to me both times I've used it. I don't know if it's the active ingredient (metronidazole), the fact that the gel base is (I think) alcohol-based, or what.. but it seems to be a mostly ignored side effect for some reason. :( To the docs and practioners out there: MetroGel DOES cause bleeding and weird discharge.
