Egg-white mucus or semen?

Is there a reliable way to tell the difference between egg-white mucus and the "day after" discharge of semen?

I ask because I am on my last week of active pills and had sex Thursday night. Friday, I noticed the "egg white" type of stringy discharge after a BM -- definitely reminiscent of the fertile cervical mucus from non-BCP times. But it wasn't clear/white -- it had an amber tint to it. I am presuming it is way more likely this was semen, but I have never had that happen like the day after sex.

Or is it probably something else entirely? Maybe leftover Vagistat for the week before?

Thanks, A
