Hi Becky, My name is Angel (28)and I was diagonsed with a micro-prolactinoma in 1995. I first used Bromocriptine to lower my prolactin level until my husband and I were ready for a child. I had my son in 98 and went back on the bromocriptine only to find I couldn't tolerate it with or without meals. So, I didn't take anything until this past fall when we decided we wanted to have another child this year. I began taking Dostinex in Nov '00. My prolactin level went from 175 to 14 in 3wks. It's much stronger than the bromocriptine. However in Feb'01 I noticed I was losing weight. By the middle of April I lost 15lbs and my appetite. I visited my endocrinologist last week and he told me weight loss and loss of appetite were not side effects. However I've done my own research and found just the opposite. I will say that with the dostinex I didn't have the nausea or vertigo problems that I had with the bromocriptine. I had extensive lab work done by my personal physician and all my levels were in order thanks to the dostinex. I just need to hurry up and get pregnant so I can get my weight back. I don't know what I'm going to do now, because I know I can't tolerate the bromocriptine and I cant't affor to lose anymore weight. This is nice having someone to talk to with the same problem. I've never actually met anyone with prolactinoma. I've got to share this with myself for the last 6yrs. If you have any questions please feel free t send me and e-mail. Look forward to hearing from you.
