For the first two days it was mostly mucous streaked with red blood. Also, the period lasted for 7-8 days (also unusual) My gyn saw me for my checkup right after and also did some bloodwork (normal).

Yesterday I had one time where I wiped and there was alot of mucous streaked with red blood. The rest of the day was fine. Today it started again with more blood in the mucous. I suspect this is the beginning of my period again, but this would make for a 22 day cycle. What could be causing this? If I were pregnant and miscarried before my period was due, would it cause something like that? Is that even possible?

This does not sound like a miscarriage, but it could be cervicitis, a generally benign condition that can lead to increased mucoid type discharge. This would not be an explanation for the changing cycle pattern however.
