Re: 1st GYN visitFrom: vw (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 2 May 2001 13:09:00 -0500 (CDT)
I think you are amazing! Well done you!! I am 29 and a virgin and only just found the courage a year ago to go. I knew the cancer risk was minimal/nil and I was determined to wait until I, I, I was ready. I could not get over the embarrassment of it all, the test did not frighten me, somehow. BUt finally when I was ready, I chatted to a human biologist friend, who was brilliant, and I went. And it was fine, spec was easy as I was fully relaxed and had come to terms with it all, as was the exam, which made me feel aroused! But the main thing, is to wait until you are ready and not before, if you feel dreadful and you dread it, it will get worse, so only go when you feel up to it. As a virgin, although advisable, as I was later told, it is not compulsory, I discussed this with my doctor, she was great. So it is worth waiting. You are only 18, I know girls who have had sex and are 23 and still haven't been, and I am 29 virgin and have just gone, so don't worry! You are very brave to have done what you have done already, take your time. Good luck.
