Dont feel like a wuss!! The gyno is as much feared as the dentist is!! My first appointment was when i was 19, only because i wanted to become sexually active. At that appointment I became so nervous that they took my blood pressure three times because it had gone up so high. They also insisted that i come back and have my blood pressure checked in a week. At the very first appointment you get so nervous because even though you may have read up on what to expect--you just cannot prepare yourself for spreading your legs in a strangers face. What i like to do is engage in conversation that will keep the doctor talking as they exam you--that way it feels less formal and that you are at a doctors office for a simple check up, not a poke and probe exam. hope this helps for your next visit!! and believe me, after 2-3 visits, these appointments get very easy to go to and they actually do wind up feeling like a simple check up visit. take care!
