Cysts and Pregnant- normal?!From: Addie (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 22:23:42 -0500
I am currently 8 weeks pregnant, I have had 2 ultrasounds, one at 6 weeks and one at 7 weeks (we saw the heartbeat at 7 weeks! :) ). Both ultrasounds showed ovarian cysts- one cyst on each ovary (I am sorry, I don't know the size of them). My Reproductive Endocrinologist told me this condition is not uncommon, but to take it easy for the next 5-8 weeks so I don't rupture one of the cysts, then they should go away on their own. Incidentally, I was on 50 mg of Clomid this cycle, so I assume that's why I have the cysts. I have some questions... I understand these cysts are supported by my pregnancy and they are manufacturing progesterone- will I start feeling even sicker than I already do, due to the increased hormones they are producing? And if one of the cysts ruptures, will it put my baby at risk? And how common are these cysts, really? Thanks so much to anyone who can help me with these questions/concerns.
