Re: tiny lump on chest.From: Anita (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 30 Apr 2001 22:19:48 -0500
I am 49-years-old. For years I've had this tiny lump in the middle of my chest which I perceived to be a pimple and every once in a while I would pop it and this cheesy smelly material would emerge. However, it was painful. Recently I went ahead and aggravated it again. (This particular pimple has never really grown in size. I would pop it, it would shrink, then grow back to same size) This last time, I popped it, (It hasn't grown any) But right near it, and it is directly over my rib, right-side, middle of the chest, like right over the area where the lymph nodes are, I have two lumps growing. I'm sick inside, I have a terrible deep pain inside of my body, like a cancer patient would suffer. The swellings seemed to be growing and I have this heavy feeling in my chest and throat and it changes my voice at times when the pain is worse. I must take pain medication every two hours to alleviate the pain. I have headaches daily and pain like angina, with the pain going into my arms, sides of my neck and a general feeling of unwellness, with a mild amount of numbness and tingling in my arms and hands. This is to name a few of the symptoms I've been experiencing lately. It's almost as if I am slowly dying. The crushing sensation and discomfort I feel in my chest is associated with the lumps in my chest. I am sure of it. I can feel the lumps and they are visible. Can a little pimple like that cause such a major problem such as I have described? I am fatigued and get shortness of breath and must move around slowly, almost as if the lumps in my chest are slowing me down. For two years I have experience a tightness in my throat, many times it has awakened me from a deep sleep, with a feeling that my throat was closing. I would then cough because it felt as though I were swallowing my tongue. The feeling would disappear, I'd go back to sleep, and it would happen again several times throughout my sleep period. Doctors never look my complaints seriously. Sometimes food or water would stick in my throat and the pain in my chest would be unbearable until it passed. This past November I suffered what appeared to be a ministroke. But first came the sensation of pain in chest and throat, like the airwaves had shut down or something. Then while my husband sat there holding my hands, my entire body began to tingle, then it turned numb....I fell to the floor and went semiconscious until the ambulance arrived. I could hear everything going on! Just before they entered my home, I sat up and did not want to go to the hospital because I have no health coverage. I'm sorry I hadn't now. The only residue from that episode was a weak right eye, diminished vision...but it has since gotten better. Is all this connected? Am I suffering from a form of cancer? Could popping this pimple have caused two lumps to have grown in my chest all these years and it's now just showing its ugly head? Can cancer cause all these symptoms I'm suffering? I really do feel like I am being eaten from the inside out. These lumps do not hurt if pressed on. But the hurt is way down deep inside. Please, tell me something. Like I said, I have no health coverage and I've already asked around to see a doctor about these problems but where I live, money to them is more important than anything else. They always tell me that if I've no insurance, I have to pay upfront. No can do. Thank you so much for letting me get this off my chest....no pun intended. Sincerely, Anita
