Got a 4th degree episiotomy and ended up with a small ( 2 mm) Recto Vaginal Fistula. Was advised by my OB-GYN and a surgeon to give it some time to heal and consider an option of fixing it in the next delivery if planning for next baby soon. It didn't heal on it's own. Now I am pregnant, expecting in June this year. Would like to know - 1. How good are the chances of getting it fixed during this delivery ? Should the OB-GYN make a 4th degree cut (or use any other method) to correct it even if the delivery process this time does not need an episiotomy ? 2. Can someone please suggest a good OB-GYN/ surgeon in Massachusetts or Texas who has handled many such surgeries ? 3. Anybody out there have any experience of rectovaginal fistula being fixed during subsequent delivery process ? How was the success rate ?
