Hi Lynn,

Here is my situation: *34-year-old healthy female who runs 15-20 miles per week. *I get severe cramps about 20 minutes into a fast paced or hill run. *Cramps are severe, sweating and nausea - I have to stop running *Cramps last 15 minutes or so and then disappear *No specific pattern related to my cycle *Symptoms do not persist when I'm on the pill - hormonal regulation seems to have something to do with it. *I was treated for intestinal yeast - strict diet, dyflucan, acupuncture allergy treatments, acidophilus, and herbs about a year ago. *I still get the cramps, but they are less severe. Now I can stop and sometimes they will subside quicker without escalating so much. *Now seem especially tied to bowel movements. When I get the cramps, I almost always need to have a bowel movement immediately, the cramps persist until the bowel movement is complete, and sometimes after, then they subside. I can continue running, and actually ususally feel better and stronger. *We've been trying to get pregnant for 11 months without success. I and he have had all tests run (short of laproscopic surgery) with "normal" results. Not sure if the two are related. Here are possible causes offered: *pelvic/abdominal stagnation (the theory being that the pill stagnates the pelvic area, running gets everything moving, and since it is usually inert, it causes cramping); *I have considered endometriosis, but doctors say this is not a symptom.

Questions:
1)If the cramping is bowel related, why does the pill seem to alleviate the symptoms (I have also seen this scenario repeated by several women).
2)Could there be adhesions between the bowel and the uterus?
3)Does this condition effect fertilty?
4)Is there a known expert in this area or resources you could point me to for more information?
5)Is there any treatment that you know of? I've seen several posts from women with similar symptoms and no real answers - any info you can provide is much appreciated. thanks for providing this service!!!!

If you'd like to email me directly, please do so at courtilini@hotmail.com

Thanks,

Courtney
