Progesterone during pregnancy- negative effects?

After recently moving to a new state, I learned I was pregnant (now 8weeks), and began spotting in my 5th week. At my first appt with a new Doctor, I told him that I miscarried last year due to Turners, and that I typically spot almost every day during my cycle. I also showed him that I am already producing white fluid from my breasts. The Doctor prescribed Prometrium 200 mg (progesterone), said the bleeding in-between my periods indicated low progesterone, and with progesterone being as low as he guessed mine was, I would likely loose the pregnancy if I didn't quickly start progesterone therapy (he was surprised I became pregnant at all).

He then tested my HCG, thyroid and prolactin. He again tested my HCG 5 days later. Thyroid and prolactin levels were normal; HCG went from 181 to 1692 over 5 days. No sono done, nor progesterone levels tested.

I tried to ask the Doctor about the negative effects of progesterone during pregnancy, but the Doctor became frustrated and dismissed my question.

For several reasons I've decided to switch OBGYNS, but my first appointment with the new doctor won't be for 3 more weeks.

I am worried about continuing the 200 mg progesterone and it's effects on my pregnancy. I am so exhausted that I can barely get out of bed, and I am experiencing dizziness a few times a day (not familiar to this extreme from my last pregnancy).

Could someone please tell me what the negative effects of progesterone are to the fetus? Could it be causing the extreme fatigue and dizziness? Am I endangering my pregnancy if I take progesterone for 3 more weeks till I meet my new doctor (will be 12 weeks then)? What are my risks if I stop taking it?
