'Get your hormones checked'?????

I was talking to my psychiatrist about the horrible "brain fog" and memory problems I've been having. It's been gradually getting worse over the years. I'm only 30 and I have been getting more and more flakey over the past 6-8 years. I have trouble focusing and concentrating, again getting worse over the last few years. He told me when women report these kinda problems, he likes to have them get their hormones checked before moving forward with other treatments. I take birth control pills, so my hormone levels should be fairly stable. I have also been incredibly tired a lot of this time, my hair's gotten very thin, have no sex drive, and just generally feel yucky.

Any ideas which hormones I should have checked??? Is this something that can be addressed by the internist, or should I see the GYN for "hormonal" stuff?
