Cosmic radiation and flying whilst pregnant.From: Adam (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 29 Apr 2001 20:16:28 +1000
I am currently 20 weeks pregnant, and am due to fly from Sydney to the UK at 21 weeks, returning one month later. I am 24 years old, in good health, and so far there have been no problems in the pregnancy. I am, however, concerned as to whether there could be any ill-effects to the baby as a result of the flight, particularly from the effects of cosmic radiation. Is there any real risk to the baby from an approximately 24-hour flight at 21 weeks, and another at 25 weeks? I am not proposing to undertake any other flights throughout the pregnancy. Rebecca.
