thrombosed hemorrhoids and fistulotomyFrom: Onset (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 27 Apr 2001 17:40:48 -0400
Hi there, I had an anal fistulotomy 10 days ago (April 17). Though my hemorrhoids were tender, they were not painful before surgery. After surgery, they became excruciatingly painful. They're thrombosed, very large and sore. I am practically housebound and in great distress. I've had this now for about 7 days. My doctor is afraid to do anything until my fistula heals. But I can't live like this. He says they should go away on their own, but so far there is no change, in fact slightly worse due to constipation from pain medication. I am taking sitz baths four times a day and tylenol every four hours. I've stopped the other pain meds. I'm eating soft cooked foods (brown rice, Kale), soup and fruit. Do you recommend a safe treatment? Will the hemorrhoids in fact "calm down" on their own or will I be disabled for weeks? Thank you!! Susan
