Former PolyCystic and blighted ovumsFrom: Maria (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 27 Apr 2001 14:44:58 -0700
Hi, I've had a history of poly cystic ovarian disease on my right side for over 15 years. Last November I became pregnant on that side (I have a bicornate uterus so I know the ovary responsible for the pregnancy.) In January, I miscarried and the doctor suspected it was a blighted ovum as the fetal pole developed and nothing more. (Dx'd through a sono.) We've been trying to conceive for the last 2 months but I haven't had any success so far. I'm 38 and am due to ovulate on the right side in 2 weeks. Does Polycystic Ovarian Disease tend to have an influence on blighted ovums? Should I speak to my OB about going on Clomid to release some of these old eggs? My GP was reluctant to prescribe because of the bicornate uterus but I've carried all my 4 children to 36 weeks or more. Should I hold off trying to conceive this month and try again next month? It used to be so easy when I was younger...all my husband had to do was get the twinkle in his eye and BING! I was pregnant...I really sympathize with all those who struggle with infertility. Thanks for your help Maria
