lower left quadrant painFrom: alice (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 19 Apr 2001 22:31:02 -0500 (CDT)
I am 51,had a abdominal hysterectomy in 79,with removal of rt. ovary. Recently I developed pain in left lower pelvic area, radiating to the floor of pelvis. Upon examination by my gyn,he said there was a pelvic mass. I than went for an internal ultrasound. There was no mass, but a definite thickening of colon. I was referred to gastroenteroligist, who attempted to perform a sigmoidoscopy yesterday. He was able to enter only a short distance, and unable to make a turn due to adhesions. He now wants to do a barium enema,to see on film where the narrowing is. My question is, can adhesions cause this kind of pain, that will affect the bowels? There has been a change in bowel habit. If so what is the next step, and outlook?
