Hello Martha,

I'm just guessing here that you've had some hard times in the exam room? Might I respectfully suggest you maybe find a nice, gentle practitioner who won't make you feel so uncomfortable with their use of a speculum. Individual skills vary greatly and, if you don't have a big problem with being too tense, you may just be better off with someone else doing the exam.
