Tricia, If indeed that the pain is gas, then this is not that unusual. The reason is usually the fact that you are not as active as you would normally be. This causes gas to not move through the bowel as well. Further, some people tend to swallow more air when there is pain postoperatively. Things that can help are walking, trying to avoid things that produce more gas and also coming off any pain meds that you might be on... Lynn
