I'm 18 and have been experiencing irritation and itching in my vaginal area for about 9 months. I have seen many doctors, including gynecologists and a dermatologist who have given me different types of yeast infection medicines, bacterial vaginosis medicines, HPV medicines, topical steroid cream, zinc oxide cream, boric acid capsules, vaseline, and even pinworm treatment- none of which seems to help. I am not sexually active, do not have abnormal discharge, and the area is mostly healthy looking (not red or inflammed but I could be mistaken). The symptoms are hard to describe because they are not localized (they've moved around in the last 8 mos even to the anal area - but usually it's right around the vaginal opening) and they change in consistency and degree. It's an off and on irritation throughout the day that seems to correspond to any vaginal discharge(even normal kind) that is present. Sometimes I wont even notice anything and it will itch for a second, and sometimes it will be irritated for a day. I am not stressed out usually either. The only thing I can think to relate this to, even though it is uncertain, is an upper endoscophy (My esophagus was stretched) that I had about 3 weeks before this began. The procedure was a shock to my system, I was throwing up all day and remained slightly lightheaded for a few weeks afterword. But as I said this might not be related. I think it might be a rare type of bacterial off-balance. Either way, it is the mental anguish that torments me the most, I go through depression and loss of self-worth as I fight this battle everyday. Does anyone have any answers or help for me? Thank you !
