Just thought I'd add my 2-cents' worth - I recently had my first gyn exam at age 33, I'm a virgin, and it was not at all painful - at most, a bit uncomfortable when the speculum was put into place, but certainly not painful. I know we're all different and have different experiences - just want to share that we shouldn't assume it's going to be painful, because I wasted a whole lot of time being a nervous wreck in anticipation of pain.

Don't get me wrong....it's not something I'd like to do every day, but it wasn't bad at all. As a matter of fact, I couldn't believe my ears when my gyn said she was done - it was that fast and that easy! I won't hesitate to make the appointment when I'm due next year.
