Hi Kerry,

I have Endo as well. I've not heard the Pap can exaserbate Endo, but I guess with the disease, anything is possible...

Maybe the problem you are having is with the Drs. technique...don't know, just speculating.

Please, do not put off your Pap Smear because of increased pain for a day....the test it too important to your Gynecological Health. I was always religious about going in for my Pap Smears. Well, for whatever reason (and no reason is good enough for me....in my case...not talking about anyone specifically here ;o)...), It was 18 months between pap smears. I was told, as usual, it takes about two weeks for the results, and they would then send a card to me if it was okay, or call if it isn't. I never had an abnormal pap, so I thought all would be well. Three weeks passed, four weeks passed. I called the Drs. office. The nurse told me to give it another week and if I didn't hear anything, call again. Okay, not worried...a week goes by and we are on week five...still nothing. I called and they were getting the run around. It took one more week (week six), and the Dr. getting on the phone with the lab yelling at them to find my pap was abnormal and it was pulled for additional review. It was a Class II (the older classification...this was in 1991 or so). So, it wasn't anything life threatening. I was given a sulfa vaginal cream and a repeat was done in three months. All was well.

This taught me it is very important to go for regular screenings.

I am now with a new Dr. (well, not new anymore....four years) I have sent family members as well as friends to him. One of my cousins was late in coming in for her check up....what did he do? He sent her a certified letter telling her she was long overdue for her appt. Good for him for doing this!!!!! I was impressed.
