Let's see. I don't want to miss anything so let me start with the last
question and work towards the top.
Pat PID MAY be a cause of dysmenorrhea but nearly all women with
dysmenorrhea have never had PID.
Chronic PID starts out as acute PID (the whole enchilada - temperature,
pelvic pain, infection affecting the fallopian tubes and possibly nearby
organs including the ovaries, uterus and intestines (including the
appendix)). What makes chronic PID chronic is that it recurs from the
original infection rather than a reinfection. Symptoms and complaints
resurface from various causes (intercourse, decreased immunity, other
intercurrent infections, etc) or from no discernible cause.
In some women, there may be a reason to do a laparoscopy to determine
whether or not adhesions from PID may be part of the problem.
Hope this helps and write back anytime for more information.
