Was wondering if long-term use of the pill >during puberty could have ill effects on a woman's hormones? It's actually the opposite. The pill has been helping you for the past 10 years, and now that you are off of it, your "natural" hormones have kicked in, and you have symptoms. This is a common finding. Consider polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS), a fairly common condition, where women have irregular periods, possibly hirsutism (male-type hair growth) and possibly infertility. The birth control pill will treat the irregular periods and hirsutism, but once these women go off the pill, their symptoms recur. Good question. Good luck with getting pregnant. (As I type this my son, Alex, is playing with a highly annoying toy that plays Barney songs. I'm convinced that Barney is the Antichrist. When you have a baby, don't "invite" Barney into your house)! Take care,
