Some folks say that taking the supplements may help, since the bacteria are similar to the "good" bacteria that are often lacking during BV problems. Others say that there's no way that yogurt bacteria will take hold in the human vagina. The quality and vitality of acidophilus supplements vary widely. I usually advise my clients to eat yogurt with live active cultures (check the label) every day if they like it, because it can't hurt, gives them nutritional benefits (calcium), and might help with BV recurrence. I am hesitant to recommend lacto supplements.
