Re: Going off the Pill & Natural Family PlanningFrom: Anna (anonymous@obgyn.net)Fri, 30 Mar 2001 16:00:24 -0600 (CST)
Lisa, I've stopped the pill 3 times in the 13 years I've taken it, not to get pregnant but just because I got sick of it. Once I had no period for 5 months (didn't worry about it, and it just came back), once for 3 months, and this last time, I went right back to a pretty normal cycle, and it's been going well since December. So everything is possible, it seems. Regarding NFP, read the Weschler book (Taking Charge of Your Fertility), it's extremely informative. Be aware though that you need to observe your cycle for at least 6 months to make sure that patterns actually ARE patterns and not flukes. Also, not all women have natural textbook cycles, so you might find it impossible to be as safe as you might want to be. It takes lots of patience, but even if you still decide to use condoms at all times (as I do), it's really interesting to see your body at work. Good luck,
-- Anna
