Different clinicians give different advice on the need to use a backup method of birth control when on antibiotics. You should ask the opinion of your doctor and follow her advice.

Three days of Bactrim is often used to treat a urinary tract infection. One cipro with intercourse is used to prevent urinary tract infections in people who get them when they have sex. I'm assuming that is what your doctor has done, but you can ask her to clear up any confusion.
