It simply means that the cytotechnologist could find no endocervical cells on the pap. In order to call a pap smear and adequate sampling of the cervix, the technologist must see squamous ectocervical cells and endocervical cells. If one is not seen, it needs to be mentioned on the pap. Some docs will repeat the smear, others will wait until the next year, a lot depends on your past smears and your reliability as a patient.
