Dear Fionna,

The issue with the drug found in Estring is not whether the drug might find its way to the baby. The American Academy of Pediatrics considers that medication to be compatible with breastfeeding. That medication is sometimes given orally to stop milk production, so the concern has more to do with milk supply. Your doctor probably believes that the body-wide spread of the medication will be so minimal that no effect on milk production will be seen.
