I am 32 years old and have been having increasingly lighter periods over the last year and 1/2. Now, my periods are 1 day, light flow. Used to be 5 days, heavy flow. My day 3 FSH is 5.9 and day 3 estradiol is 138 pg/ml. My understanding from the literature is that estradiol of 138 is very high and an indication of reduced ovarian reserve. My gyn, however, is not concerned. She says that I am too young for menopause and as long as I am having regular periods and an lh surge (kit shows this), getting pregnant should not be a problem. My questions: Can an elevated estradiol level be caused by something other than diminished ovarian reserve? Should I get a 2nd opinion? I am concerned that I am losing precious time by taking her advice to "relax and keep trying" rather than seeing a fertility specialist ASAP.
