1ST TIME - ATYPICAL, HYPERKERATOSIS, KERATINIZAING DYSPLASIA possibleFrom: PAT (anonymous@obgyn.net)Thu, 22 Mar 2001 08:52:57 -0600 (CST)
I have learned a great deal in the last several days reading replies. Hope someone can suggest, specifically, what to do next? 51 yr old, no major health problems, annual exam( menopausal 5 yrs ) All prior Pap tests have been normal. Physical exam normal. Ultrsounds of kidneys & pelvic for backache last summer. Both NORMAL. Diagnosis: Satisfactory but limited by absence of an endocervical component. Atypical squamous cells of undetermined significance. Favor dysplasia Hyperkeratosis Comment: A keratinizing dysplasia is a possibility. Read many other combinations but not exactly what the above states. I understand ASCUS is the abbreviation of the above and definitions individually for the other descriptive words. But I would like to understand the overall diagnosis better so I can make an "intelligent decision" on future treatment. Immediate? 6 months? etc. I thank you in advance for your concern and insight.
