Betty Betty, Pain following hysterectomy can be from several things. First is that the initial pain wasn't from the pelvic organs in the first place. Second, with any surgery, there is scarring and this can cause pain. Third, there is occasionally residual ovarian tissue that can cause pain. The solutions for these issues are either therapy to work on coping with the pain after all alternatives have been investigated (i.e. bowel and urinary). The other option is "pain mapping". This is a fairly new approach that entails performing a "mini" laparoscopy in an awake patient and during the scope, assessing what manipulation causes the pain... Lynn
