Re: 'vaginal synechiae'From: Nicole (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 4 Mar 2001 13:00:21 -0600 (CST)
I just wanted to take a moment and thank you. I really cannot tell you how grateful I am - simply to have some kind of validation that what this woman did was not ok. Unfortunately, even all these years later, that incident has made it difficult for me to get good health care, since I'm still just terrified of doctors. I hadn't thought about it in several years, but now I'm pregnant and having some problems with the pregnancy, and last week I completely freaked out at an appointment where my doctor was simply taking my blood pressure. He had me lay down first, and was being very kind and reassuring, and it somehow triggered that experience - I felt like that same 6 year old, with that same nurse, and that same terror - absolutely certain that he was going to "do something bad" . Anyway, I can tell all of that to a therapist! Really I just want you to know that I'm very grateful for your response. I've never been able to come up with the nerve to actually talk with a doctor about it. And even it that doesn't exactly solve my problem with doctors, at least I can finally understand that this completely irrational fear grew out of a real experience.
