In the female, the urethra or tube from the bladder to the outside is only a few inches long. The opening of this tube is located just inside the vaginal entrance and is certainly impacted at the time of sexual intercourse. Because of its short length, it is easy for bacteria to be introduced into this tube and the bladder. This results in problems with recurrent urinary tract infections in some women. Remedies for this include voiding immediately following intercourse and also taking an antibiotic tablet prior to sex. Bactrim is safe to take with progesterone... Lynn
