Mickey,

first off, no matter whether you go with the shot or the pill, USE CONDOMS! I hate to sound rude, but boys lie (most everybody does, but teenage boys who want sex are notorious; been there, done that, so I know ;-), so even if they assure you that you are their first or that they pulled out "in time" or that doing it for just a bit won't do anything, don't take their words for the gospel. That way, not only are you preventing pregnancy, but you also won't die of AIDS at 22. (Also, don't just do it because everybody does. Wait for the right guy. This is a memory you will cherish or hate for the rest of your life - choose very carefully.) Regarding shot versus pill: You have to be very reliable if you want to take the pill. Miss one, and you could end up pregnant. The shot is easier in this respect, but both have all sorts of side-effects that vary from woman to woman. You will need to talk to a doctor about this face to face.
