Drs. Please....need help explaining pathology reportFrom: Tina (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Feb 2001 15:28:17 -0600 (CST)
I had a TAH/partial BSO (left ovary remains) on 2/3/01 due to fibroids, enlarged uterus, excessive, irregular periods, chronic pelvic pain. I got the pathology report back to day from my doctors office and am not really sure what the diagnosis is except that there was no cancer present. Can you please look at the diagnosis below and put it into terms a regular person can understand? Here is the diagnosis: TAH/RIGHT BSO RARE FOCI OF ADENOMYOSIS LATE SECRETORY ENDOMETRIUM NO DIAGNOSTIC ABNORMALITY OF CERVIX HEMORRHAGIC CORPUS LUTEUM AND BENIGN FOLLICULAR CYSTS RIGHT OVARY NO DIAGNOSTIC ABNORMALITY RIGHT FALLOPIAN TUBE Here is the microscopic description that I am also having difficulty understanding: Sections of cervix reveal presence of nabothian cysts. There is mild chronic inflammation. There is no evidence of dysplasia or malignancy. Sections of endomyometrium reveal a secretory pattern. The myometrium shows rare foci of adenomyosis. There is no evidence of leiomyoma. There is no evidence of hyperplasia or malignancy. Sections of ovary reveal hemorrhagic corpus luteum cyst and begnign follicular cysts. No evidence of malignancy. Sections of fallopian tube are unremarkable. Please any advice you can give will be appreciated. Thanks
