birth control and antibioticsFrom: ally (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 19 Feb 2001 07:24:46 -0600 (CST)
I was given Amoxil 875mg on Sat. for a throat infection and swollen glands. The doctor warned me to use other protection with my birth control pills. I am starting my second week in my pill pack. Since starting the Amoxil I have been having the same severe PMS symtoms I used to get when I was off the pill. I am sweating, cold, having night sweats and my feet are constantly sweaty and cold, which sounds weird but this used to be one of my first symtoms about 5 days before my period started. I also am experiencing breast tenderness and cannot sleep. My mind is racing and it I feel like I'm on a caffiene buzz. These are all symtoms, for me, of PMS. Is the antibiotic messing up my hormones? I have always been very hormone sensitive with symtoms. I don't seem to have a fever and very low if any. Could it just be me fighting off this infection or is my hormones getting out of wack also? Or is it a combination of both? Thanks in advance.
