Re: unexplained weight lossFrom: dbb (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sat, 17 Feb 2001 20:11:57 -0600
Could be thyroid or diabetes or lots of other things, You need a full checkup w/ bloodwork to determine what's up, and at 90lbs, I'd say SOON. -----Original Message----- From: anonymous@obgyn.net [mailto:anonymous@obgyn.net Behalf Of Cindy Sent: Saturday, February 17, 2001 1:06 PM To: Multiple recipients of list WOMENS-HEALTH Subject: unexplained weight loss I am 30 years old with 3 children (ages 15 mos, 3yrs, and 11yrs) and have been losing weight unintentionally for the past 2 months. I am 5'3 and currently weigh only 90 lbs. My periods have been irregular since July (3 periods since July) as well. For the past 2-3 weeks I have been taking in twice the normal calories & fat to try and regain some of my weight, but rather than gain I have lost another pound. Headaches have become frequent along w/some nausea (no vomiting). I am becoming weak and have very little energy. Night sweats and hair loss have also become a problem. My question is....is this something I should first see my OB/GYN about, or would it be smarter in your opinion to just make a trip to the ER so I can have tests run? Any idea what could be causing this also? Thanks so much, Cindy
