? about something that I saw on consent form for biopsyFrom: Kristy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Mon, 5 Feb 2001 08:40:28 -0800 (PST)
Good a.m. drs and everyone, I have another question for you all, but before I get to it wanted to let you all know that the biopsy that I was supposed to have had to be rescheduled for Mar 8th due to infections that were found. So far the only one that we know about is the BV but it also looks like I might have GBS going on too b/c of the fact that I've had my discharge try to turn green on me a few times. B/c of the severity of the infection the pain from the pelvic exam was excruciating so since the numbing stuff that was needed for the biopsy was out I asked first if she could stop for a minute and then numben me so that she could proceed with the exam and taking the cultures that were needed to check for the infections. She numbened me with the lidocaine and I quickly felt much better but I can tell you that b/c of the intensity of that pain my pelvic floor muscles did tighten very briefly but then I was able to relax them once the lidocaine took effect. I have now made a note to myself that if I think that I'm in ever that much pain again to ask to be numbened. It also doesn't help that it seems like the endo has also made me very tender again b/c as my dr tried to touch around the area that hurt me she lightly pressed on my uterus and it hurt a lot so I'm not sure if that is b/c of the endo or the infection. Any way enough about that. Now on to my question. When I signed the consent form allowing my dr to do the biopsy it stated that I was having a vulvar biopsy. My thought was that I was getting a vaginal biopsy. So my question to all of you is this: Does a vaginal biopsy fall under the category of vulvar biopsy or is a vulvar biopsy just of the vulvar area (the actual external genital area)? The reason for asking this is b/c now I'm totally confused again. Also my biopsy is rescheduled for March 8th. Thank you to all of you for the wonderful information that you provide to us to help work at making relationships with our own physicians better. Take care, ===== Kristy :) http://www.geocities.com/HotSprings/Falls/4659/kristyspage.html
