Pain, BleedingFrom: Mari (anonymous@obgyn.net)Wed, 31 Jan 2001 21:21:07 -0600 (CST)
Shortly before this last period, I had spotty bleeding and a constant pain (not normal cramps) in my very lower right abdominal area. Then when I urinate, it hurts somewhere between where the abdominal pain is and where the urine comes out of my body (like on an internal wall on the urine's way down), but the urine itself does not BURN at all. It hurts the most when I first start to urinate and when I am squeezing the last bit out. I don't think I am urinating more frequently than usual, but the urgency is definitely there, whereas I normally can hold it for very long periods of time if I need to. I would think I had a urinary tract infection, but the bleeding is from my VAGINAL area; I see no blood in my urine. I can tell it is from my vagina because it gets all over a tampon, and I scrutinize my urine closely after going to the bathroom. A home urinary infection test was negative, and I have no fever. I had what appeared to be a normal period, which subsided in about 5 days, went down to about a trace and then seemed to get heavy again, but most of the blood seemed to be landing on the right side of the sanitary napkin after the bleeding resumed. Yet as I said, when I have to "pee," I have to do it imminently, which is particularly weird for me. I am in my mid-forties and have regular periods. I have not been to a gynecologist for about 5 years. I know I SHOULD go to one (not intellectually stupid, have MS degree with 4.0 average), but I didn't for years because I had no kids, and about 8 years or so I started going to one, but she was so harsh that I just stopped going and never got a new doctor since I always dreaded going so much. (I have bad doctor/medical phobias anyway, and she just made them much worse. I am very squeamish about this kind of stuff. Every time I go to even a reg. doctor when I don't know what is wrong with me, it feels like my blood vessels are going to pop right out of my skin. I can't even watch a show like ER without going absolutely fetal, so I need some idea what could be the problem this time before I could ever think about going to a doctor about it. I am on anxiety medication as it is.) I am worried sick about this. Please help.
