Hi,

>>>There are thousands of specialties and they will choose

gynecology because it satisfies some sort of perversion to be sure. <<<

Do you have facts and sources you can back this information up with, or is it your opinion? If you do have backup, I'd sure like to read it.

>>>Why

gynecology?<<<

Why dermatology? Why gastroenterology? Why radiology? Because the person has an interest in the field. Doctors want to help people, no matter what field they go into. They may want to specialize in one certain area, but to them, its just another body part. Trust me, they don't go through medical school, internship, residency, and continuing education and waste all that money and time just to get a peek at a woman's genitals. If you think about it, all they've done to become doctors, etc, do you realize how foolish this sounds to all of us reading your message?

Many gynecologists enjoy gynecology because it allows them to take part in a woman's overall health, which is a very interesting and challenging field today especially. Many others also have an OB specialty and enjoy delivering babies and taking care of the mothers before and after birth.

Yes there are a few "bad apples" for any field of medicine - just like there are bad managers, disk jockeys, CEOs, and yes even attorneys! Being a doctor does not mean someone is necessarily a good person, so people must exercise caution if they feel something is not right during the exam. But the actual incidence as a whole of a doctor actually behaving inappropriately during an exam is very, very low and rare. Most doctors, males and females, are good people and caregivers.

Here's news for you, and for people who think males are the only ones that can hurt women during an exam or act sexually inappropriate to them: _women_ doctors hurt patients sometimes too! Don't be tricked into thinking that men are naturally hazardous, and women are naturally safe. Any doctor who would act inappropriately or become aroused from an exam has a psychological problem - and yes, women doctors can have them too. There have been incidences of this, again its rare but it is possible. The intelligent patient must therefore be cautious, not paranoid but cautious, and tell someone right away if anything they feel is inappropriate occurs during any exam.

Contrary to what the media sometimes attempts to portray, sex and sexual issues are not the only things on men's minds - they can be just as caring, sensitive, and concerned as women, if not more so sometimes. We have a handful of good, caring doctors right here on this forum...like Dr Marchbein, Hill, and all the others who give of their time and expertise to help women. Why don't you go to the website, http://www.obgyn.net, and enter their names in the search box and read their profiles. It might help you to see that these are an example of good, caring people, and that gender doesn't matter when it comes to being a good doctor. I have a female doctor myself that I like, but if either of them or some of the others posting on here ever moved to my area, I'd switch in a minute.

>>> which is why they get into this

profession fundamentally. <<<

So tell me....why do male lawyers get into the family law profession? Or women's issues? Maybe they find the graphic descriptions abused women and kids must give in court and at depositions of sexual abuse or rape stimulating? I think not. Why is it ok in your eyes (assuming it is) for male lawyers to help women and kids, but male doctors cannot do the same?

Remember something....saying things like you have does not make people think there is something "perverted" or wrong with male doctors. Mature and mentally healthy people know better. It does make them wonder if there's something wrong with the person writing it, however.
