Re: Not exactly gynecological but....???From: Andi (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Jan 2001 12:57:51 -0600 (CST)
Robin: Thanks for the reply to my post. I had my colonoscopies to evaluate chronic left sided pelvic pain. My GI doc thought that there might be adhesions since I had extensive adhesions that were lysed on 2 previous laps. However, 2 other laps didn't reveal any adhesions. I am facing prolapse surgery (vaginal vault suspension) on February 20th and my doc is contemplating doing another lap since he wants to make sure that there is no endo/adhesions, although, he is hesitating since he didn't find any on the last 2 laps. He may do a bladder suspension and said that if he does that (in addition to the vaginal vault suspension) he would do it abdominally rather than vaginally and he will get a better view. I am hoping that he does do it abdominally so that we can get this problem solved once and for all. I have been to numerous doctors who all agree that I should have a laparotomy done because the adhesions and endo may be deep and underneath the colon. I also have thickening of the cul-de-sac which may suggest endometriosis..my doc said the thickening was not there on my last exam a year ago. I certainly don't want to be cut, but if that is the only thing going to solve this problem that I've had for over 8 years now, I say go for it! I'm terrified of the thought of being cut, but like I said, I want this problem solved. I know that you have had many, many surgeries done as indicated by your posts and you know what I am going thru. I too, have had numerous surgeries done and it never gets easier...it gets harder. Thank you again for your understanding and reply. BTW, my GI doc said that there is no indication of IBS in either my symptoms or my scopes that were done. Thanks again!
