Vaginal Insertion of yogurt to prevent yeast infectionFrom: Wendy (anonymous@obgyn.net)Sun, 28 Jan 2001 07:27:15 -0600 (CST)
I am taking a great deal of antibiotics and am prone to yeast infections. I was treated with SMZ-TMP DS tabs #6 (Teva) for a Urinary Trac Infection two weeks ago the dosage was 1 pill two times a day for 3 days. I developed cramping and pain. I went back to the doctor two weeks later for a recheck and she advised I now had a bacterial infection which was cause by the antibiotic to get rid of the UTI. In the meantime I caught a bug and went to the doctor 2 days earlier and was given Cephalexin 500 mg take 1 capsule 4 times a day for 10 days. Now I am told I could develop a Yeast Infection from all the antibiotics. In shear desperation of not wanting to go back to the doctor I asked a friend what she does when she takes antibiotics to prevent yeast infections. She advised to place yogurt in a syringe, that you would use to vaginally insert creams, and insert a syringe full of yogurt in my vagina. I did it and now I can't clean it out. I emptied my bladder this morning and saw no residue so I went to the store and purchased a mild vinegar and water douche but saw nothing. I hope everything is ok. Can you advise me what I should do next or should I leave it alone and nature will get rid of the yogurt.
