endometrial ablation/laparoscopy/fibroid

I am having a edometrial ablation Feb 6th. Also laparoscopy surgery to remove a fibroid about the size of a tennis ball. My doctor will beusing a ysteroscopy with the ablation to remove endometrial lining. I have been on Lupron and then went to Depo Provera shots every other month for the last 1 1/2 years to keep me from flowing heavy. I still had some minor minor spotting in between shots. I'm hoping this will stop my periods all together so I can keep from having a hysterctomy. I don't like the side effects of the Depo Provera. The doctor was hoping to keep me in a chemical menopause until I finally did get to menopause. But I don't want to be taking all this medicine for several more years and do not want the heavy bleeding. I am 44 years old. I haven't been reading much success in these procedures. My doctor thinks I will have a very good possibility, 90% chance of not having periods any more. What do you think? I had a good pap smear June of 2000 and an ultrasound January of 2000 and it showed the fibroid. My doctor also did a biospy of the lining to make sure there was no hidden cancer before starting me on the Lupron and Depo. Kind of worried about this surgery, but not worried enough to have a hysterctomy. Thanks for any useful advice!
