If I am clear on the fact that you are referring to ici as the technique utilized at the time of in-vitro where the sperm is placed directly into the egg, then you are comparing apples to oranges. IUI entails placing a prepared semen specimen into the uterine cavity of an ovulating woman. ICI consists of taking sperm and using a micro pipette and injecting the sperm directly into the harvested egg, allowing fertilization and cell division, then placing the embryo back into the uterine cavity in 2-3 days. The other difference is that IUI cost in the range of 3-400 dollars. ICI, combined with IVF cost 6-10,000 dollars.

The success rate with each varied based on several factors-those leading up to the requirement for the different procedures... Lynn
