I'm not a doctor but this just sounds odd to me. Personally, I can barely use tampons the length of my period without getting irritated by them. I would think that having one in every day for 3 months would certainly open up the opportunity for infections, both from bacteria on the tampon and the microscopic abrasions they can cause when used too long. It's pretty uncomfortable to remove a nearly dry tampon at the end of your period!! I can't imagine what it would be like at other times.

If it were my friend, I would suggest that she may need to see another doctor.
